Suntech launches Ultra V Series Module in the European market with IEC certifications
Suntech announced the Ultra V Series high-power PV module has recently been awarded two certificates by VDE in Germany with IEC 61215 and IEC 61730. The certifications are including both monofacial & bifacial modules of Ultra V Series, marking a high recognition of the reliability, performance and quality of the PV modules.

Simultaneously, bringing the innovative technology to rooftop-ready module formats, Ultra V mini Series, the full-black mini-sized module is set to exceed 410W output power. It is a universal solution for the potential larger installation demand for both residential and commercial rooftops.

The Ultra V mini module has an ultimate size of 1724 x 1134mm and an area of less than 2m2, allowing for maximum utilization on the limited area of a rooftop installation. Taking the German PV market as an example, when the module size is larger than 2m2, it is necessary to submit an additional German general building approval (Allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung, abZ) to the German Institute of Building Technology (DIBT), the superior size of Ultra V mini module undoubtedly has an absolute advantage in this area. It has not only the right size for easy installation but also maximizes the use of the roof to achieve a gap-free residual, making full use of the limited roof area to maximize the installed capacity. The appearance of the Ultra V mini full-black module blends perfectly with the roof and meets modern aesthetics. At the same time, there is also the regular module model with silver or black frame in Ultra V mini Series, which can meet the different needs of customers.

With a human-centered product development mindset, the modules are designed with occupational safety and health regulations, weighing only 22.1 kg (48.7 lbs), which is below the limit setting of no more than 23 kg (50 lbs) for personal handling. While the weight is reduced, the mechanical load capacity is significantly increased, withstanding negative pressure of up to 3800 Pa and positive pressure of 6000 Pa, effectively improving module reliability.

With fewer solar cells and smaller module areas, Ultra V mini can still exceed the power of the same type of module. The lower number of solar cells leads to low voltage characteristics, which can reduce the module open-circuit-voltage (Voc) to about 37 V. The number of single-string modules can be increased accordingly, and the string power is increased further, which will greatly reduce the BOS cost. The optimized mini size of the module is better matched to the container transport size, reducing transport costs by 5% compared to conventional products, effectively reducing BOS costs by approximately 2.6-2.8%. Considering all aspects from the output, transportation, installation, auxiliary materials and trackers, the EPC costs can be reduced practically, providing customers with a higher return on investment.

Mr. Xiaorong Cao, Vice President of Suntech said, “High power and high efficiency is the consistent development direction of PV modules, and it is also the most effective initiative to lower the overall LCOE. Suntech´s Ultra V Series high power modules have been certified by IEC and Ultra V mini Series has been officially launched in the European market, which is the result of Suntech’s continuous efforts in the field of 182mm half-cell based modules. Suntech will continue to innovate and develop more customer-focused new products based on trustworthy product quality to charge the planet for the future.”
